About the Saddler
Dallas started work at 15, as
a jackaroo in the Clermont, Nebo and Marlborough districts. From there it was on to contract mustering and a stint in
the coal mines before going into full time saddle making. Now, for nearly 20 years Dallas has been dedicated
to creating and building quality handcrafted saddles, tack and leather accessories.
Growing up on properties, Dallas
learned the value of a well-built saddle and the importance of having a saddle that fits the horse and rider well. Dallas
is still involved in the horse industry, and with forty-something years experience, has encountered many saddle (and rider)
problems as well as a few odd shaped and hard to fit horses and thus has a wealth of knowledge to help customers design the
saddle that best fits their needs.
His knowledge, combined with his artistry, makes each saddle an original master
piece. Every saddle is individually handcrafted by Dallas using the finest materials available. This includes the
highest quality leather, custom-made trees, stainless steel hardware, and sterling silver trim.
The quality craftsmanship
and extreme attention to detail is the result of years of research, practical application and a lifetime as a horseman.
Besides his love of making saddles, Dallas also designs and makes chaps for show ring, cutting, reining, rodeo
and chinks. His leather accessories includes headstalls, breastcollars, spur straps, diary and cheque book covers, belts,
dog collars and special requests of all kinds, including saddlery repairs.
